Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, around 1956

The Mercedes 300 SL represents the motorist's dream in the nineteen-fifties. It combined aesthetic appeal with an advanced technology which pointed far into the future, e.g. using direct injection and independent suspension. Its reputation as a "stars" car' and success on the race track also helped to make the 300 SL a major protagonist of the auto-mania of the fifties.
