A hybrid vehicle has two drive systems. A "full hybrid" has an internal combustion engine combined with an electric motor of approximately equal capacity. By "recycling" braking energy and through intelligent drive control considerable reductions in fuel consumption are possible. The principle can be seen clearly in a cutaway demonstration vehicle showing all the important components.
