The Deutsches Technikmuseum invites the visitor to take part in a fascinating and exciting discovery tour through the cultural history of technology. It is located at a central traffic junction near Potsdam Square - the "Gleisdreieck" on the historic premises of the Anhalt freight station. The spacious museum park with wind and water mills, forge and brewery is a natural oasis right in the middle of the city. A candy bomber at the front of the new building has become an internationally known landmark. The museum attracts half a million visitors annually.
With its exhibitions, the museum has made a name for itself as a recognised and independent high-profile educational establishment. It actively shapes the political and scientific debate on the role of technology and science in modern societies by organising lectures, symposia and congresses.
Due to the dramaturgical structure of neuStart - Mobil ohne Öl?, it is not only the past but also the present and the future that become "museum epochs". Moreover the exhibition theme is to be discussed and promoted both in the museum and in the scope of the supporting programme and the Internet magazine www.neustart-ausstellung.de. This neuStart - Mobil ohne Öl? an initial example of the new orientation of the Deutsches Technikmuseum and points to the future Technoversum concept as from November 2007.
In addition to standard guided tours in English and German, we also offer tours that are specially tailored to suit students age 11 and above.
